Timeline
1971
Mid-Hudson Fiber founded by George Reynolds
1972
James Reynolds (current CEO) graduates college and starts work at Mid-Hudson Fiber as an installer
1976
MHC expands from 2 franchises in Catskill & Hudson to 26 franchises across Columbia, Greene, and Southern Albany Counties; upgrades the network from 300 to MHZ for era leading performance and picture quality.
1980s
MHC upgrades and rebuilds it’s 1200 mile system, adds 300 miles, and helps construct an additional 1500 miles of cable for neighboring systems in CT and MA.
1990s
Mid-Hudson Fiber becomes and industry leader, builds hybrid fiber-optic/coax network while offering communications services including data and VoIP.
1993
MHC installs 4000 feet of submarine cable 12 and a half feet deep.
2000s
MHCable launches broadband cable modem service and makes critical investments in infrastructure, including 100GB fiber to Albany.
2005
Ran over 1100 fiber plant miles supporting police & fire departments, 25 municipalities including E911 in Columbia county.
2010s
The era of streaming begins; broadband demand skyrockets; MHC makes generational investments in data network; continues to rack up awards for customer service.
2018
Awarded over 8M in grants to provide Fiber to the home to over 2000 homes.
2019 & 2020
Awarded top internet speeds nationwide by broadband now and top 10 fastest cable providers nationwide.
2021
MHC celebrates 50 years of service by welcoming employees to the family as business owners – making it one of the local, employee-owned cable companies in the United States.
2023
MHCable doubles down by rolling out a next-gen, 100% fiber-optic network with speeds up to 2 gigs – thanks communities with free upgrade to 500MBPS service, up and down.
